About Me
My name is Ali Heaton and I live with my husband and 3 dogs on the beautiful West Coast of Scotland, not far from Glencoe, surrounded by nature in all its glory. I have always had an interest in healing in all its forms, and from a young age had a “listening ear” that sometimes got me in trouble when I appeared home late for dinner. I may only have been just up the road, listening to an elderly neighbour, but I didn’t realise what a healing act these incidences were, it just felt natural. From the age of 5 I also loved ballet and dance, eventually teaching my own class at dancing school. Later I choreographed the dance numbers in a couple of pantos for a small theatre in Fife. I play the piano, and have been an organist, but the most fun was playing keyboard for a band – discovering my inner “rock chick”.
I started training in therapies back in 1996 in massage and aromatherapy at Fife College, and I gave a number of talks and demonstrations around Fife including Fife Women in Business. I followed that with completing Reiki 1 and 2 and went on to do a level 3 Diploma in reflexology. In 2004 I attended Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh (now Musselburgh) to study Therapeutic Radiography - training in radiotherapy. I gained a distinction after 3 years, but life took me in a different direction.
Over the last couple of years I have added numerology, studying with Alison Strandberg in Tayport - a lovely lady who studied with Mary Hunt who developed a fuller numerology technique based on the Egyptian Mysteries School, giving more numbers to analyse and therefore a fuller reading. Just before the beginning of lockdown in 2020 I gained a therapist certificate in Sound and Biofield Therapy which took me deeply into vibrational energies and beautiful sound, connecting me back to my music roots. I use a set of crystal singing bowls, some Tibetan singing bowls, drums, Zaphir chimes and other instruments including Tuning Forks, that are slowly being added to.
Later in 2020 I really started to look at becoming a full-time therapist. I took a course in Laughter Yoga – but not yoga as you know it! It really helps with breathwork (the yoga part!), bringing joy and laughter back into your life and it releases lovely feel-good endorphins. I did this online for a while and for groups in Oban when Covid restrictions allowed.
I started to get going in public in October 2021 doing soundbaths locally in Duror which have now extended to Benderloch, Oban, Luing, Kinlochleven and Taynuilt, and I’m hoping to add more places in 2023 where people would like them. The learning has continued too, in 2022 adding some Sound therapy CPD and other sound therapy modalities, and later in the year adding another treatment called Kansa Wands therapy. I love learning so I often do little bits and pieces in the background!
In between all of this I have been a member of a number of groups, sharing and learning different spiritual techniques and I have been on a fantastic spiritual journey myself, and been privileged to meet some wonderful people along the way. From all of this I offer card readings and have been surprised by some of the messages that have come through. I also offer Zoom groups or individuals online and in person for meditation, and teaching a variety of things such as about chakras and their meanings.
